Multiple myeloma statistics

To provide the most current cancer statistics, statistical methods are used to estimate the number of new cancer cases and deaths until actual data become available.

Incidence and mortality

Incidence is the total number of new cases of cancer. Mortality is the number of deaths due to cancer.

In 2019, an estimated:

  • 3,300 Canadians will be diagnosed with multiple myeloma.
  • 1,550 Canadians will die from multiple myeloma.
  • 1,950 men will be diagnosed with multiple myeloma and 860 will die from it.
  • 1,400 women will be diagnosed with multiple myeloma and 690 will die from it.
