Move more

The cold winter months and shorter days can make it easy to want to stay snuggled up indoors, but don’t let winter get you down! Moving more will help you stay energized and feeling great so you head into the warmer months with an extra spring in your step! Not only that, 30 minutes of moderate daily activity reduces your risk of colorectal cancer and may reduce your risks of other types of cancer too.

If the idea of moving more seems daunting, start small.  Dedicate some time in the morning to stretch, park further away your office, or take the stairs (even if it’s just one flight to start!)  Little tweaks to your daily routine add up and you’ll be ready to take it to the next level in no time.

Love the snow? Layer up, get outside and channel your inner child for winter play time. Building a snowman, having a snowball fight, or even making snow angels can all keep you active without feeling like a burden. Other great winter activities include ice skating, tobogganing, skiing, or snowshoeing.

Not into the great outdoors once the temperatures dip? Join a gym, put on a fitness video (there are tons to choose from online!) or even just get down and dirty cleaning your house to incorporate some movement in your day and have a healthy winter.
