CCS adapting to COVID-19 realities to support Canadians during and after the pandemic
Accommodation
We are excited to share that our lodges are re-opening on Monday July 6, 2020. Lodge phone lines are now open, so please call to book your accommodation.
To protect the safety and well-being of clients, caregivers, volunteers and staff, we are:
- installing plexiglass barriers in reception areas
- taking enhanced cleaning and hygiene measures
- screening everyone who enters and stays at the lodge for COVID-19 symptoms
- sharing resources and instructions with staff and clients on maintaining a high level of hygiene and reducing the risk of exposure to COVID-19
- encouraging clients to bring their own masks to the lodge
- conducting COVID-19 screening and wellness checks, including temperature checks, with all clients
- making sure each client has their own private room and bathroom or shares a room only with their caregiver
- ending buffet-style meals and instead serving individually wrapped meals and snacks
- continuing to suspend all lodge activities and support programs, including wig and breast prosthesis services and Volunteer Drivers Program, until further notice
A home away from home
People diagnosed with cancer face many challenges. Travelling to a distant location for treatment away from family and friends can be particularly overwhelming. With more than 30 years of experience, the Canadian Cancer Society has found that a welcoming, caring environment helps meet the practical and emotional needs of those in treatment for cancer away from home. The Canadian Cancer Society operates four reasonably priced lodges in close proximity to cancer treatment centres in Vancouver, the Southern Interior, on the Island and Northern BC.
Guests have the opportunity to meet others on a cancer journey. It is a safe, supportive environment where guests understand what others are going through and can share experiences.
The lodges have a range of amenities and services, including nutritious food (three meals are included in the daily rate), WiFi connectivity and a wig and breast prosthesis bank to meet the needs of cancer patients. There is easy access to information and Staff are on-site 24 hours a day to provide support and information to guests.
Rooms are shared with ensuite and some offer a queen bed option. Whenever possible, loved ones can stay with guests. Facilities are smoke-free, scent-free and wheelchair accessible. There is a reasonable user fee for lodge guests which includes meals.

Jean C Barber Lodge
The lodge is conveniently located near the BC Cancer Agency and the Vancouver General Hospital, Eye Care Center, and Skin Care Clinic. There are plenty of shops and restaurants in the area and we are minutes away from downtown Vancouver. The lodge also has easy access to transit. The Jean C Barber lodge is undergoing renovations and will re-open in the Fall of 2020. During construction, we will continue to provide accommodation to clients. Vancouver Island Lodge
The Vancouver Island Lodge is across from the Royal Jubilee Hospital and within walking distance to the BC Cancer Agency. Located in a residential area of Victoria, there is easy access to public transit, shopping, banking and entertainment. Limited paid parking is available on site; reservations are recommended.

Southern Interior Rotary Lodge
Since opening in 1998, our staff and volunteers at the Southern Interior Rotary Lodge have done their best to provide a home away from home experience. From free parking to periodic volunteer entertainment performances, we do our best to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The Lodge is located next to the cancer clinic and hospital, close to Okanagan Lake, city parks and downtown.

Kordyban Lodge
The Kordyban Lodge will be closed temporarily for essential repairs from October 10 to October 18, 2020. Our phone lines will remain open and lodge staff will help you get alternative accommodation at a reduced rate.
The Kordyban Lodge is the face of compassionate, supportive services that truly improve the quality of life for those on a cancer journey. The lodge provides accommodation for cancer patients and their caregivers from Northern BC who need to travel for outpatient cancer care to Prince George.
