The Canadian Cancer Society is calling on all political parties to adopt meaningful and actionable platform commitments to address significant gaps in cancer prevention and support for those living with cancer. You can encourage party leaders and local candidates across New Brunswick to make cancer a priority by supporting our recommendations.

Our priority issues

Youth Vaping / Tobacco 21 - Too many New Brunswick youth are vaping and smoking. Implement e-cigarette legislation including to restrict flavours, set maximum nicotine levels, ban sales except in adult-only specialty vape shops, taxation on e-cigarettes and an increase in the minimum legal age for access to tobacco products, including e-cigarettes to 21.

Advance Palliative Care Strategy - Expedite the implementation of the already approved and funded Palliative Care Strategy in 2018 to improve access to palliative care for the people of New Brunswick.

  Dear Leader

  With nearly 1 in 2 Canadians expected to develop cancer in their lifetime, we need to ensure cancer issues stay top-of-mind for the party that forms the next Government of New Brunswick.

  The Canadian Cancer Society has identified two key issues that are vital to preventing cancer and supporting those living with it:

  Youth Vaping / Tobacco 21

  Too many New Brunswick youth are vaping and smoking. Increase the age to access tobacco and vaping products to 21 and implement e-cigarette legislation to restrict flavours, set maximum nicotine levels, ban sales except in adult-only specialty vape shops and taxation on e-cigarettes.

  Advance Palliative Care Strategy   

  Expedite the implementation of the already approved and funded Palliative Care Strategy in 2018 to improve access to palliative care for the people of New Brunswick.

  I strongly support the above recommendations. If implemented, they could have a significant impact in reducing the cancer burden and supporting those living with cancer and beyond.
