Kidney cancer statistics

To provide the most current cancer statistics, statistical methods are used to estimate the number of new cancer cases and deaths until actual data become available.

Incidence and mortality

Incidence is the total number of new cases of cancer. Mortality is the number of deaths due to cancer. Statistics include kidney cancer and cancer of the renal pelvis.

It is estimated that in 2023:

  • 8,600 Canadians will be diagnosed with kidney and renal pelvis cancer.
  • 1,900 Canadians will die from kidney and renal pelvis cancer.
  • 5,600 men will be diagnosed with kidney and renal pelvis cancer and 1,250 will die from it.
  • 2,900 women will be diagnosed with kidney and renal pelvis cancer and 650 will die from it.
