CCS adapting to COVID-19 realities to support Canadians during and after the pandemic
The Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) is a community-based organization that is fortunate to have more than 130,000 caring and committed volunteers across Canada. They are the face of CCS in their communities.
Our staff are composed of people with expertise in research funding administration, advocacy, cancer control, information and support. Our volunteer engagement and fundraising team members also work to engage Canadians in our mission work and to support our cause. Operations, marketing, communications and digital media professionals use their skills to support this work.
Our volunteers and staff have the energy and passion to contribute to a better future for others and to work tirelessly to improve lives now. We embrace our organizational values which serve as guidelines for our conduct and behaviour as we work towards our vision of creating a world where no Canadian fears cancer.
It was very important that the fundraiser be in honour of my uncle, because it’s a great way to show our support for him.
Great progress has been made
Some cancers, such as thyroid and testicular, have survival rates of over 90%. Other cancers, such as pancreatic, brain and esophageal, continue to have very low survival rates.
