Magical mocktailsGive yourself the gift of health this year by limiting your alcohol intake and reducing your cancer risk. Drinking any type of alcohol raises your chance of developing cancer and the more you cut back, the better.

Challenge yourself to go alcohol-free this February by participating in Dry Feb, a program that raises funds for the Canadian Cancer Society. It helps you get healthy and clear your head while also fundraising for an important cause.

You don’t have to miss out on upcoming celebrations while you’re participating in Dry Feb, you can enjoy a delicious mocktail instead! Get creative with the DIY mocktail suggestions below and tailor your drink to your taste.

DIY Mocktails

To make your own mocktail, mix your choice of the following bases, flavours and healthy enhancers into a glass and enjoy.

Beverage base - ¾ cup (plain or flavoured; sugar-free)

• Club soda or seltzer water
• Sparkling and mineral waters
• Tonic water

Flavours - ¼ cup

• Fruit juices, no added sugar – pomegranate, citrus, apricot
• Coconut water
• Teas (black, green, white, herbal, chai)

Healthy enhancers - ¼-½ cup

• Herbs – mint, basil, rosemary, thyme, sage
• Fresh or frozen fruits, whole or sliced; berries, melon, pomegranate seeds
• Citrus peels and slices of lemon, lime, grapefruit or orange
• Chopped fruit: apples, mangoes, papaya, pineapple
• Flavoured ice cubes: green tea, 100% fruit juice, chopped fruit
