Desjardins Insurance reiterates its support for the Canadian Cancer Society. More than $54,000 will be offered in financial and material assistance

Montreal -

The Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) – Quebec Division is proud to announce that it is receiving $54,089.91 this year from Desjardins Insurance. Since 2009, more than $198,840.36 has been raised from activities carried out jointly with Desjardins. This collaboration will result in the contribution of a percentage of annual premiums for each GetWell insurance policy sold as well for all active policies. These funds will enable the CCS to provide material and financial assistance to people living with cancer.

“Anyone living with cancer shouldn’t have to worry about anything other than getting better. Unfortunately, as everyone knows, cancer affects every aspect of a person’s life and the people around, particularly from a financial point of view,” says Suzanne Dubois, Executive Director of the CCS – Quebec Division. “The partnership that we have with Desjardins Insurance helps ease the financial burden of many Quebecers. We are very grateful to Desjardins for their generous contribution and would like to say a big thank you to them.”

The CCS’s financial assistance is provided in the form of transportation allowance payments during treatments or multiple medical visits. Assistance for rehabilitation materials, such as adapted bras or incontinence and temporary ostomy supplies, is also possible.

“Cancer treatment can take a while. During this time, income decreases and expenses increase as a result of treatment-related costs. When a serious disease covered by the policy is first diagnosed, the WellBeing Insurance provides for a tax-exempt lump sum payment. The insured person is free to use this amount as he or she wishes to focus on their own treatment or that of an insured family member. Life still goes on during the ordeal,” says Theresa Monsma, Marketing Director, Creditor and Direct Insurance at Desjardins Financial Security.
