Montreal -

The Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) – Quebec Division is deeply saddened by the death of Jack Layton following his fight against a second cancer. Mr. Layton was an example of courage and an outstanding political figure for many Quebecers.

“His unceasing work as an elected representative, focused on improving health care provided to the public, is a source of inspiration to us all,” said Suzanne Dubois, Executive Director of the Quebec Division. “But what Mr. Layton showed us was how we can, just as thousands of Quebecers are doing at this very moment, maintain our dignity and strength in the face of this terrible disease. Mr. Layton is an example of resilience that will affect us for a long time to come.”

The Quebec Division of the Canadian Cancer Society extends its sincere condolences to Mr. Layton’s family and loved ones.
