Canadian Cancer Society partners with Choir! Choir! Choir! for virtual sing-a-thon on April 11

NATIONAL -

The Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) is partnering with musical duo Choir! Choir! Choir! for a virtual sing-a-thon in support of the Canadian Cancer Society Daffodil Campaign. Taking place live on Facebook and YouTube on Saturday, April 11 at 3pm ET, the event connects people from around the world to have fun, spread hope, and unite through song. You can RSVP here to the event through Facebook.

Choir! Choir! Choir! creative directors Nobu Adilman and Daveed Goldman provide digital lyric sheets and guide participants through a set list of inspiring selections. From their own homes, families, self-isolators, and singers of all stripes will sing along with the duo as part of this special virtual singing event. Throughout the event, donations will be collected for CCS via Facebook and YouTube. Donations will also be collected leading up to and after the event, all of which will help Canadians impacted by cancer.

Funds raised through the Daffodil Campaign change lives for the better. Now more than ever during the COVID-19 outbreak, our digital and phone support programs are critical to the people we serve, providing information, reducing anxiety, and limiting feelings of isolation. Currently, more than 1 million people in the country are living with and beyond cancer and could have compromised immune systems that puts them at a greater risk of more serious outcomes if they contract COVID-19.

In light of the global pandemic, and in order to put the well-being and safety of people affected by cancer, and our collective of supporters, volunteers and staff first, we decided to replace traditional offline and in-person Daffodil Campaign activities like our upcoming GTA Choir! Choir! Choir! event with a virtual model.

Since mid-March, Choir! Choir! Choir! has been hosting Social Distan-Sing-A-Long events on their Facebook page. More than 100,000 people from several countries joined their inaugural online event on March 21.

About Choir! Choir! Choir!

Choir! Choir! Choir! is a Toronto-based singing group led by creative directors Nobu Adilman and Daveed Goldman. The duo takes a non-traditional approach; there are no auditions, and the audience is the choir. Just show up and they'll teach you an original arrangement to a song you love. Founded in 2011, Choir! Choir! Choir! has amassed a dedicated and passionate community of singers and a thriving international fan base on YouTube amassing 10s of millions of views on some of their videos.

The group has performed with renowned artists such as Patti Smith, David Byrne, Rick Astley, Tegan and Sara, and Rufus Wainwright, and onstage at New York’s Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall with the likes of Debbie Harry and The Flaming Lips. They've created content for NBC’s Jesus Christ Superstar with Hamilton’s Brandon Victor Dixon. And they they’ve performed at the MET in New York for New York Pride and hosted their own float in Toronto Pride. They remembered Canadian music hero, Gord Downie, by performing "Grace, Too" with the surviving members of the Tragically Hip to 10,000 fans in Toronto.

Choir! Choir! Choir! exists to celebrate music and push the boundaries between practice and performance, artist and audience, offering therapeutic benefits with the ultimate side effect: a powerful community.
