Eligibility criteria
The Canadian Cancer Society, a non-profit, volunteer-based organization, OFFERS A COMPLIMENTARY financial aid program to LOW INCOME cancer patients. People receiving social assistance (also named Employment Assistance or Youth Solidarity Financial Assistance) are not admissible to travel allowance because a similar financial aid program is available to them.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- Person (alone) whose gross annual income is less than : $22 171
- Family unit* of 2 people whose gross annual income is less than : $27 601
- Family unit* of 3 people whose gross annual income is less than : $33 933
- Family unit* of 4 people whose gross annual income is less than : $41 198
- Family unit* of 5 people whose gross annual income is less than : $46 727
- Family unit* of 6 people whose gross annual income is less than : $52 699
*Family unit :
Is considered part of the family unit any individual who permanently resides at the same street address as the cancer patient.
REIMBURSEMENT : TRAVEL ALLOWANCE
- PERSONAL VEHICLE OR VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION: 17 cents/km
- PARKING : 100% of costs (receipts mandatory)
- BUS, TRAIN : 100% of costs (receipts mandatory)
- TAXI, AIRPLANE : 75% of costs (receipts mandatory)
- PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION COMPANY : 75% of costs (receipts mandatory)
NOTE : AMBULANCE COSTS ARE NOT REIMBURSED.
OTHER REIMBURSEMENTS : (invoice or prescription mandatory)
- CAPILLARY PROSTHESIS : $100
- SUPPORT HOSE : 100% of costs, maximum of 4 per year.
- ELASTIC GLOVE OR SLEEVE : 100% of costs, maximum of 4 per year.
- BAGS FOR TEMPORARY COLOSTOMY : 100% of costs.
- ADAPTED BRA : 100% of costs, maximum of 2 per year.
- DISPOSABLE UNDERWEAR : Maximum reimbursement of $500 per year.
- LYMPHEDEMA TREATMENTS : Maximum reimbursement of $500 per year.
