Eligibility criteria

The Canadian Cancer Society, a non-profit, volunteer-based organization, OFFERS A COMPLIMENTARY financial aid program to LOW INCOME cancer patients.  People receiving social assistance (also named Employment Assistance or Youth Solidarity Financial Assistance) are not admissible to travel allowance because a similar financial aid program is available to them.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Person (alone) whose gross annual income is less than : $22 171
  • Family unit* of 2 people whose gross annual income is less than : $27 601
  • Family unit* of 3 people whose gross annual income is less than : $33 933
  • Family unit* of 4 people whose gross annual income is less than : $41 198
  • Family unit* of 5 people whose gross annual income is less than : $46 727
  • Family unit* of 6 people whose gross annual income is less than : $52 699

*Family unit :
Is considered part of the family unit any individual who permanently resides at the same street address as the cancer patient.

REIMBURSEMENT : TRAVEL ALLOWANCE

  • PERSONAL VEHICLE OR VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION:  17 cents/km
  • PARKING : 100% of  costs (receipts mandatory)
  • BUS, TRAIN : 100% of costs (receipts mandatory)
  • TAXI, AIRPLANE : 75% of costs (receipts mandatory)
  • PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION COMPANY : 75% of costs (receipts mandatory)

NOTE : AMBULANCE COSTS ARE NOT REIMBURSED.

OTHER REIMBURSEMENTS : (invoice or prescription mandatory)

  • CAPILLARY PROSTHESIS : $100
  • SUPPORT HOSE : 100% of costs, maximum of 4 per year.
  • ELASTIC GLOVE OR SLEEVE : 100% of costs,  maximum of 4 per year.
  • BAGS FOR TEMPORARY COLOSTOMY : 100% of costs.
  • ADAPTED BRA : 100% of costs,  maximum of 2 per year.
  • DISPOSABLE UNDERWEAR : Maximum reimbursement of $500 per year.
  • LYMPHEDEMA TREATMENTS : Maximum reimbursement of $500 per year.
