Getting transportation to treatment

The Canadian Cancer Society strives to provide access to safe and reliable transportation for people receiving active treatment at approved cancer treatment facilities.

The road to recovery needs more drivers …

Sometimes simply getting to treatment can be a difficult task, especially if you are also dealing with physical or financial challenges or if the treatment centre is far from home. With the kindness and support of volunteer drivers, people with cancer only need to worry about getting better and beating cancer for good.

The volunteer driving program in St John’s and metro regions provide transportation for people receiving cancer treatments to and from their treatment centres.

If you need help getting to your cancer-related care, we can work with you to find the best way to get you there. For example, a volunteer driver can pick you up and take you to your local hospital or regional cancer centre and offer you a friendly, supportive environment along the way.

All of our transportation services are coordinated locally. To find out what’s available in your area, contact your local Canadian Cancer Society office or an information specialist at 1-888-939-3333.
