Getting transportation to treatment

In Manitoba, distance can be a barrier to getting the proper cancer treatment we all deserve. That’s why for over 30 years the Canadian Cancer Society has provided safe, reliable and subsidized rides for cancer patients. If you are receiving treatment for cancer and don’t have a ride or cannot cover the full cost of getting to your appointments, a volunteer driver can pick you up and take you to your appointments at a greatly reduced cost.

The driving force of the Canadian Cancer Society

The transportation service provides about 30,000 subsidized rides annually in more than 50 communities throughout Manitoba. Every single ride is provided by a Manitoban who has volunteered their time. These volunteers clocked a whopping 750,000 kilometres on Manitoba roads last year alone!
Unprecedented demand for this vital service has increased our costs by $80,000 more than what was anticipated. Consider a one-time gift to help put the transportation service back on a secure financial footing. Donate now.

“They were my angels. When I was at my lowest, they were there to help me. It took a burden off our shoulders and was one less thing that my family had to worry about.”
– a 34-year-old cancer survivor and Winnipeg transportation service client

The transportation service would not be possible without community-minded organizations like the Free Masons of Manitoba and all of our volunteer drivers.

Volunteers needed

We are always looking for volunteers to help make this essential service possible. There is a low time commitment – and it’s your chance to make a real difference in the fight against cancer! Call 1-888-532-6982 for details.
