Awake & Alive - a retreat day for people with cancer

The Canadian Cancer Society in Saskatchewan is pleased to introduce Awake & Alive – a Living Well with Cancer in your Community retreat.

Cancer can often feel like a lonely and challenging diagnosis that is filled with fear, anxiety and uncertainty. In our Awake & Alive retreats, you will meet people in your community who are fellow cancer survivors. This retreat is for adults with any type of cancer at any stage in the cancer journey.

This life-affirming day offers people with a cancer diagnosis the opportunity to explore what it means to live fully awake and fully alive – even while facing serious illness. The day will open participants to the practice of mindfulness that can assist them in navigating the emotional, psychological and spiritual dimensions of the journey with cancer. Waking up to the preciousness of each moment, we may find ourselves more able to embrace life just the way it is – with all its joys and sorrows!

We will explore and practice walking, stretching, breathing and relaxation techniques. Working with these tools can help bring relaxation to stressful situations.

All participants are asked to wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a pillow and blanket to the retreat. A nutritious lunch will be served.

There is no charge for this retreat. Participants must pre-register on our website or through your local Canadian Cancer Society office.

Awake & Alive will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. – registration will be from 8:30 to 8:45 a.m.
