Finding support groups
The Canadian Cancer Society NL Division offers adult support groups in many communities across our province. Trained volunteers lead educational and informal discussions to help people living with cancer and their caregivers. The types of groups available in each area may vary. Most groups offered by the Canadian Cancer Society NL Division are general support for people living with cancer.
Currently, we have groups operating in:
- St John’s
- St Lawrence
- Clarenville
- Twillingate
- Gander
- Grand Falls-Windsor
- Corner Brook
- Stephenville
- Burgeo
- Happy Valley-Goose Bay
We also work closely with external organizations that offer support groups for specific cancers.
Prostate cancer support
The Prostate Cancer Support Group of Newfoundland and Labrador offers support for men living with prostate cancer. When you are diagnosed with prostate cancer, you begin a process of education and treatment. The road to recovery, however, is not without its obstacles and ambiguities.
Contact the Prostate Cancer Support Group of Newfoundland to find a meeting near you.
Breast cancer support
You do not have to face the challenges of a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment alone. There are many support services throughout the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
You may wish to access peer support or a support group. These support programs connect you with people who have been through a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Look Good Feel Better Program
Look Good Feel Better is a free, 2-hour, hands-on workshop where women whose appearance has been affected by cancer and cancer treatment learn how to look and feel a little more like themselves again. Guided by experts through our Signature Steps, they master simple cosmetic techniques, explore hair alternatives and learn about cosmetic hygiene and nail and skin care.
The Look Good Feel Better Program brings together women with cancer in a safe and supportive environment where they can share stories, insights, laughter and, yes, sometimes tears.
