Dr Annette McWilliams helps sniff out lung cancer with an electronic nose
Dr Annette McWilliams and her colleagues found that an electronic “nose” (e-nose) that detects a profile of chemicals in exhaled breath could differentiate between people with lung cancer from high-risk smokers without lung cancer. This supports the potential for the e-nose device to be used as a screening tool to identify lung cancers at an early stage.
