The Asian community in BC supports a number of initiatives benefiting the Canadian Cancer Society. Asian Campaigns began in 1995 with the intent to focus on the fast growing Chinese-Canadian population in this region. It is a community based efforts supporting the Canadian Cancer Society goals in funding leading research; promoting prevention initiatives and public advocacy issues; providing comprehensive information and support to cancer patients and their families. Charity Toy Dragon – January - February 2012
The Canadian Cancer Society has held an annual Charity Toy sale since 1997, featuring the animals of the Chinese zodiac. This year is the Year of the Dragon, and this year’s toy is a limited edition- a neck/head rest with a dragon toy attached. Call our Cancer-Asian Hotline at 604-708-8818 for more details.
Daffodil Sales – March 31 - April 2
Our Daffodil sales campaign is held on March 31 and April 1.
Annual Telethon – April
The Telethon is held during April in partnership with Fairchild TV, AM 1470, and FM 96.1. This event features real-life stories, reflections by cancer patients and survivors, and the Canadian Cancer Society’s efforts and initiatives in the fight against cancer. Asian Campaign Gala Dinner - June
The Canadian Cancer Society Asian Campaign Gala Dinner is held during June 3 at the Four Season Hotel, Vancouver. There is traditionally a dollar-to-dollar matching donation for all Gift-of Hope donations. Please join us and support our fight against cancer. Miss Chinese (Vancouver) Pageant Gala Dinner - December
The Miss Chinese (Vancouver) Pageant Gala Dinner is held during December at the Vancouver Convention Centre. In previous events Fairchild TV has named the Society as the beneficiary of this prestigious event.
