1. How do I know a canvasser is legitimate and not fraudulent?
Educating our donors to identify Canadian Cancer Society fundraisers is very important. We strongly encourage you to check for our fundraisers' identification badges and door-to-door kits. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to call us at 1-800-661-2262.
2. Why does the Canadian Cancer Society canvass neighbourhoods to raise money?
Every three minutes, another Canadian will hear the words: "You have cancer." Despite the significant progress we've made in the fight for life, cancer continues to take a devastating toll. That's why supporting people living with cancer and funding groundbreaking research remains so important.
We strive to offer our donors with the opportunity to choose how to support the fight for life in a way that is meaningful and convenient to them. That is why we provide a variety of ways to donate: door-to-door, annual fundraising events, online, monthly giving and more.
Going door-to-door continues to be a proven way to engage with some donors who otherwise wouldn't respond online or through other campaigns.
3. I want to support the Society but am not comfortable giving at the door. How else can I give?
Giving at the door is safe – please check for our fundraisers badges and door-to-door kits. If you have any concerns, do not hesitate to contact us at 1-800-661-2262.
If you would prefer, however, please make an online donation, consider becoming a monthly donor or participate in one of our annual fundraising events. No matter how you choose to give, your gift will help the Society change cancer forever.
