Gala des Grands Chefs
Gala des Grands Chefs, which is organized by the Canadian Cancer Society, is among the Quebec Division’s marquee events. The inaugural gala was held 18 years ago, at the initiative of Françoise Durand, a volunteer in Sherbrooke. Since then, the concept has inspired similar ventures across Quebec and is now held in more than 10 regions.
These gourmet events organized by the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) are a way of mixing business with pleasure: participants contribute to the fight against cancer while enjoying an extraordinary culinary adventure. What better way to spend an evening than engaging in conversation with peers while savouring dishes prepared with flair and care by a team of top chefs with assistance from volunteers devoted to a worthy cause? Thanks to the chefs’ boundless creativity, every gala delivers extremely enjoyable gastronomic surprises.

Great progress has been made
Some cancers, such as thyroid and testicular, have survival rates of over 90%. Other cancers, such as pancreatic, brain and esophageal, continue to have very low survival rates.
