Curl for Cancer
Did you know that the first Curl for Cancer event happened on Prince Edward Island? Curl for Cancer events have been taking place on PEI for the last 32 years. We currently have three curling fun spiels that take place during November and December, one in capital city of Charlottetown and two in the town of Montague.
Events often include bake sales, trivia, 50/50 draws, and live and silent auctions. Curl for Cancer events are a great way for curling enthusiasts to come out for a fun day of curling while raising funds to support programs and services provided by the Canadian Cancer Society, PEI Division.
Within about 12 hours of being at Camp Goodtime, everything started to change, and that week was cathartic, transformative. It was the first time I got to know myself.
Great progress has been made
Some cancers, such as thyroid and testicular, have survival rates of over 90%. Other cancers, such as pancreatic, brain and esophageal, continue to have very low survival rates.
