Oral cavity cancer statistics

To provide the most current cancer statistics, statistical methods are used to estimate the number of new cancer cases and deaths until actual data become available.

Incidence and mortality

Incidence is the total number of new cases of cancer. Mortality is the number of deaths due to cancer.

In 2019, an estimated:

  • 5,300 Canadians will be diagnosed with oral cavity cancer.
  • 1,450 Canadians will die from oral cavity cancer.
  • 3,700 men will be diagnosed with oral cavity cancer and 1,050 will die from it.
  • 1,600 women will be diagnosed with oral cavity cancer and 430 will die from it.
