Leukemia statistics

To provide the most current cancer statistics, statistical methods are used to estimate the number of new cancer cases and deaths until actual data become available.

Incidence and mortality

Incidence is the total number of new cases of cancer. Mortality is the number of deaths due to cancer.

In 2017, an estimated:

  • 6,200 Canadians were diagnosed with leukemia.
  • 2,900 Canadians died from leukemia.
  • 3,600 men were diagnosed with leukemia and 1,650 died from it.
  • 2,600 women were diagnosed with leukemia and 1,250 died from it.
