Kidney cancer statistics

To provide the most current cancer statistics, statistical methods are used to estimate the number of new cancer cases and deaths until actual data become available.

Incidence and mortality

Incidence is the total number of new cases of cancer. Mortality is the number of deaths due to cancer.

In 2017, an estimated:

  • 6,600 Canadians were diagnosed with kidney cancer.
  • 1,900 Canadians died from kidney cancer.
  • 4,200 men were diagnosed with kidney cancer and 1,200 died from it.
  • 2,400 women were diagnosed with kidney cancer and 670 died from it.
