Steven Donald was appointed President of Assante Wealth Management (Canada) Ltd and its major subsidiaries in 2005. Prior to his appointment as President, he held the roles of Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Assante from 2003 to 2005. Before joining Assante in November 2003, he was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Synergy Asset Management (Synergy), from the time of its inception in 1998 until its acquisition by CI Financial, Assante's parent company. Prior to Synergy, Steve was Vice President of Finance at SHL Systemhouse Co. He went to Systemhouse from Ernst & Young LLP, where he worked in the financial services group providing audit and consulting services.
Steve has volunteered for the Canadian Cancer Society for many years, first as Treasurer of the Metro Toronto Region, then serving two terms on the Ontario Division Finance Committee. In addition, he has previously served as a Member at Large of the Ontario Division Board.
Steve is active in the community and his profession. In addition to his commitment to the Canadian Cancer Society, he is Vice Chair of the Mutual Fund Dealers Association and a director with the Investment Industry Association of Canada.
Steve is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario and has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia.
