Sandra P. Aversa
Sandra is the Associate Chief Accountant at the Bank of Montreal and is responsible for overseeing the bank’s accounting policies, monitoring and communicating changes in accounting standards to the bank’s various stakeholders, and managing the relationship with the bank’s external auditors. Sandra is a Chartered Accountant and has over 15 years of experience in accounting, auditing and financial reporting. Prior to joining Bank of Montreal, Sandra worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers where she led audits of large financial services clients.
Sandra has been actively involved with the Canadian Cancer Society’s Ontario Division since joining the Finance Committee in 2005 and the Audit Committee in 2009.
Sandra lives in Toronto with her husband and their two daughters.
Research at the Canadian Centre for Applied Research in Cancer Control led to a new standard in leukemia testing.
Great progress has been made
Some cancers, such as thyroid and testicular, have survival rates of over 90%. Other cancers, such as pancreatic, brain and esophageal, continue to have very low survival rates.
