As Vice President, Planning and Regional Programs, Garth Matheson provides strategic leadership in the development and implementation of the Ontario Cancer Plan, as well as operational stewardship and oversight of Cancer Care Ontario’s 13 Regional Cancer Programs. Garth is responsible for performance management of Ontario’s cancer system priorities, system funding and capital planning.
Previously, Garth has held senior leadership positions at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto and the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre in Thunder Bay. Before coming to Ontario, Garth served in senior health care administrative roles in Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
As a health care leader, Garth has demonstrated passion and commitment to the delivery of high quality patient care, working in partnership with health services providers, administrators and health policy decision makers.
Garth holds an MBA and BComm from the University of Saskatchewan. He is also a graduate of the Advanced Health Leadership Program at the Rotman School of Management.
