We all have a good reason to walk

“In addition to my father and me, one of my close friends had cancer in 2013. I also lost a lot of family members to this disease. It’s for all these reasons that I’ve been participating in the Relay For Life for more than three years now. I’m a team captain and member of the organizing committee in the Relay For Life at Quebec City. I’m particularly involved in the recruitment of teams – I make presentations in secondary schools, for instance – and in team retention. I host events for captains, I answer their questions, etc. I make a difference in my own way and I love it.

My peak experience during the Relay For Life? There’s more than one. The Survivors’ Lap shows me that we’re not alone and that there is hope. The Luminary Ceremony makes me appreciate life and think about people who are unfortunately no longer with us. The last lap, at sunrise, represents a feeling of accomplishment and a commitment to continue fighting for life. The Relay For Life is a magical night!”
