The Power of One
The Power of One is a simple, yet powerful concept that demonstrates the impact that one person can have on the big picture. This year’s Power of One message is asking teams to add just one more person to their team.
Here’s how it works:
Sometimes, it’s hard to imagine that one small action can have an impact in the fight against cancer.
Last year, 6,289 teams participated in Relay in Ontario. The average amount raised by each person on those teams was $268.03.
So, what if each team had one more person? Let’s do the math:
6,289 teams X 1 person X $268.03 = $1,685,640
One more person. That’s all it would take. If each team had one more person, we could raise close to $1.7 million! And that will make a BIG impact!
Who will be your +1? Ask a friend, family member, colleague or neighbour to join you.
Within about 12 hours of being at Camp Goodtime, everything started to change, and that week was cathartic, transformative. It was the first time I got to know myself.
Making progress in the cancer fight
The 5-year cancer survival rate has increased from 25% in the 1940s to 60% today.
