REGINA - The Canadian Cancer Society is the latest beneficiary of Brandt’s “Thanks a Billion” program. To celebrate reaching $1 billion in annual revenue, the corporation is giving back more than $3 million to its employees, customers and communities. Brandt’s tremendous generosity will be used for cancer research. The Society is passionate about furthering our mission to eradicate cancer and enhance the life of people living with cancer. “Continued support from generous donors like Brandt will help us continue to make progress in the fight against cancer”, says Keith Karasin, Executive Director of the Canadian Cancer Society in Saskatchewan.
The Society funds more cancer research, on more types of cancer, than any other national charity. The research we fund is chosen by our internationally renowned peer-review system to ensure that we are funding only the best, most promising research. Last year, we invested $46 million to fund 274 researchers and 574 students and fellows to carry out 336 research projects. Research funded by the Society led to 565 scientific papers being published in peer-reviewed journals.
Since the “Thanks a Billion” program started, Brandt has contributed to 90 charitable organizations including the United Way, the Children’s Wish Foundation and the MS Society.
