Early Bird Sale in Support of Skin Cancer

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in Canada, and it is one of the most preventable cancers.
According to The Canadian Cancer Society, the more sunburns you have in childhood, the greater the risk of melanoma later in life. “Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, is on the rise in Canada. About 90% of melanoma cancer cases are due to UV exposure from the sun or tanning beds,” says Robert Nuttall, Assistant Director, Health Policy, Canadian Cancer Society. “Now more than ever, we need to increase awareness of sun safety, so that fewer people will be impacted by skin cancer.”

To support the work of the Canadian Cancer Society, Maritime Fun Group is once again running a summer promotion with proceeds going to the sun safety efforts of the Society. From June 6-15, Shining Waters will be running an Online Early Bird Sale, where guests will receive a $5 discount on individual day passes, and $20 discount on family admission day passes. For each of the passes sold during this period, Shining Waters Family Fun Park will, in turn, donate $5 and $20, respectively, to the Canadian Cancer Society. Over the course of the summer, Shining Waters will also be donating all proceeds from their gently used towel program to the Canadian Cancer Society. “We are pleased to support the Canadian Cancer Society PEI’s sun safe program.” said Matthew Jelley, President of Maritime Fun Group. “We want these funds to go to raising awareness about the importance of sun safety to families all across the Island this summer.”
