Help make affordable access to medications a reality for Islanders!

I am writing today to ask for your support on an urgent issue.

Today more than 25% of Islanders do not have private health insurance and many are making terrible sacrifices to cover drug costs. Others are going without necessary treatments due to the catastrophic costs of some prescription drugs. This is especially true for people suffering from cancer or other chronic illnesses. Even with health insurance, drug costs may not be completely covered. All Island families need protection against drug costs that are beyond their ability to pay.

You can help make affordable access to prescription drugs a reality.

PEI is one of only two provinces in Canada that does not provide drug coverage to all of its residents. As our government prepares the next provincial budget, let your elected representatives know that the development of a catastrophic drug coverage program is a high priority for you, your family and friends.

Ask the government to approve and implement a new catastrophic drug plan in 2013.

Send an email to your MLA and to the Health Minister asking for immediate action on this issue.
