22 August 2011
Vancouver -
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of the distinguished Canadian political figure, Jack Layton. Our thoughts go out to his family and loved ones,” said Barbara Kaminsky, CEO, Canadian Cancer Society BC and Yukon Division.
“Jack was certainly a fighter. Although he lost his battle with an enemy more formidable than any political opponent, his courage and determination to overcome the disease was an inspiration to us all.”
“His message of hope to those on a cancer journey captured his incredible optimism and ability to see a better future.”
“However, despite all our efforts, cancer is still taking lives and causing suffering. The Canadian Cancer Society will continue to fund outstanding research, invest in prevention and deliver compassionate support as long as we are needed.”
