ANNUAL DRIVE FOR A CURE-Wed. Aug. 28th

We are looking for some volunteers to help us serve refreshments to golfers from 10:00 am to 4:00 at the Cornwall Golf and Country Club.  Volunteers will be hosting one of the 18 holes and providing snacks, drinks and some encouragement along the way.  If you can help us out, please contact Lois van Beek.

PINK RIBBON CAMPAIGN- October 4th  and 5th

Locations:  mostly Cornwall and area, but we are willing to expand into all communities of SDG and Prescott Russell if we can recruit Captains for these areas.

I am looking for some key volunteers to become captains of a site for Friday eventing and Satuday daytime.

Your duties entail ensuring the volunteers have enough ribbons to supply the general public, checking in at shift changes, to ensure the replacements have arrived, helping with volunteer recruitment and collecting the materials from the unit office and returning unused materials and the donations collected, back to the unit office.

I am also recruiting volunteers who can work a 2-3 hour shift to help us promote the ribbons in exchange for donations.

JAIL "N" BAIL- Thursday October 24th

We are currently recruiting key volunteers to help us with our Jail N Bail event to be held on Thursday Oct. 24th at the Cornwall Square.  We need some leadership volunteers to help us increase the visibility of the event and to help us with event set up and organization.  Please contact Lois van Beek-Barrette.

STUDENTS

Need to complete your 40 hours of community service?

We have many opportunities for students throughout the school year.  Simple fill out the on-line volunteer form, as mentioned above, and we will add you to our email listing.  You will be first to hear of student volunteer opportunities.    Next opportunity is Friday Oct 4th and Saturday October 5th.  We will be offering PINK RIBBONS to the general public in exchange for a donation.  Funds raised help us support research to help fight cancer.

ARE YOU UP FOR THE CHALLENGE?

We are searching for individuals who are willing to organize and host events out in your local communities to help us raise money and awareness.  These special events help with community involvement and a sense of belonging.  Event organizers can choose to designate where they want their funds raised to go.  Ie brain cancer, prostate cancer, research, to support local transportation etc. For details on how to host your own fundraising event for us visit cancer.ca/holdyourownevent

WHEELS OF HOPE VOLUNTEERS

Are you a cancer patient using our transportation service?
Are you one of our volunteer drivers?
If yes, we need you!

We are looking for cancer patients who are willing to pair up with a volunteer driver to go into the local primary schools to promote our Wheels of Hope-Transportation Program.  We are hoping that we can promote our Toonies for Transport in local classrooms across SDG Prescott and Russell.  The goal is to challenge each class room to raise enough money to provide funds for one trip to and from Ottawa, approximately $66.00.  One Driver and one client would go to visit local schools to make a personal impact on these children and teachers, knowing that their money will help drive someone in their school's mom, grandpa, sister, cousin or uncle to their cancer treatments.

Please contact Lois for more details.
