Breast Cancer Awareness Month

At the Canadian Cancer Society, the month of October is about more than just raising awareness of breast cancer, it’s about taking action to save lives. Learn more about our fight against breast cancer and how you can show your support by taking action against this disease.

Pink Ribbon Pin Sales

Support breast cancer research and services by buying a pink ribbon at one of our sales locations in Niagara in October. Sites include The Real Canadian Superstore in St. Catharines, Pupos and Zehrs in Welland, Sobeys in Fonthill, Zehrs in Niagara Falls, Food Basics in Port Colborne and Sobeys in Beamsville.



The cure to breast cancer is at your fingertips!

This October, join the Canadian Cancer Society in the fight against breast cancer by participating in ManiCURES, a fundraising campaign that is taking place in salons, workplaces and schools just like yours!

You can get involved in ManiCURES by challenging the guys in your life to paint their nails pink and asking them to Pass the Polish or head to a participating salon to get a cancer-fighting manicure. Lend a hand to nail breast cancer. It's that easy!

Wheels of Hope Trivia Night

Pink in the Rink - Thurs. Jan. 21, 2016

The Niagara Ice Dogs and the Canadian Cancer Society team up to fight womens' cancers at the 5th annual Pink in the Rink event.  Come out to enjoy the game, wear your pink or buy pink in the rink products at the game and bid on a pink jersey worn by your favorite Ice Dogs player!


Battle in the Saddle - Sat. Jan. 30, 2016

The Canadian Cancer Society and Energy Fitness Studio are holding its 4th annual Battle in the Saddle at the Best Western Hotel in St. Catharines.  What sets this event apart from other spin-a-thons in Niagara is that it’s 24 hours.  Battle in the Saddle is a 24 hour stationary bike team relay spin-a-thon.  To learn more about how you can participate, contact Michelle Begin at mbegin@ontario.cancer.ca or call (905) 684-6455 ext. 3158.

Stair Climb for Children's Cancer - Sat. April 16, 2016

Step up in the fight against childhood cancer by climbing the 660 steps up the Skylon Tower in Niagara Falls.  Proceeds support the Wheels of Hope transportation program that assists families with a child with cancer and pediatric cancer research.  Become a climb buddy and climb for a local child cancer survivor. Who will you be climbing for? Relay For Life - June 2016


Relay For Life is a community fundraising event where Canadians across the country join together in the fight against cancer. In 2015, nearly 400 Relays took place across Canada.


Picture yourself walking a track while hundreds of people – family, friends, co-workers and neighbours – cheer you on. The baton you hold in your hand is a powerful symbol of your personal commitment to make an impact in the fight against cancer. As you complete your lap and pass the baton to a teammate, you feel an overwhelming sense of pride in knowing you’re united with Canadians in communities across the country to create a world where no one fears cancer. Grapes of Wrath, Niagara's Obstacle and Mud Run - Sat. June 25, 2016

The 5th Annual Grapes of Wrath event will be held at 13th St. Winery in St. Catharines on June 25, 2016.  This event supports the Wheels of Hope transportation program that helps cancer patients get to their life-saving appointments.  Grapes of Wrath isn't your average charity run - it's survival of the fittest at its best. There will be mud…there will be pain…and you'll NEVER be the same. Can you handle it?

Stair Climb for Children's Cancer Committee - join this dynamic committee that organizes the annual Stair Climb for Children's Cancer event that will take place on April 16, 2016 in Niagara Falls.  

Relay For Life Committee - join this dedicated group of volunteers to help organize the society's signature fundraising event held in June of each year.

Outreach – volunteers needed for:

  • Presentations to the community

  • Volunteer Fairs
Support Programs – volunteers needed for:
  • Driving people to their cancer treatments
  • Peer Support if you are a cancer survivor or care giver to a person with cancer
