Calgary and area support services
Peer support programs
Peer support programs are designed to put you in touch with someone who has already been through what you are facing. Volunteers are trained to listen, provide emotional support and share practical insights about living with cancer.
Support is available in several forms.
Support groups
Groups consist of a series of eight, two-hour sessions, co-facilitated by an experienced psychosocial professional and a cancer survivor. Sessions are structured, yet flexible. The focus is on discussion topics important for women who are newly diagnosed and living with cancer. Groups are small in size to facilitate peer support and open communication among group members. Refreshments are provided.
