Walk-a-thons
A walk-a-thon?
A wonderfully relaxing outdoor physical activity, for a cause you hold dear; an opportunity to renew ties with friends, family and colleagues… these are all the basic ingredients that make up a walk-a-thon. Some even have an original twist, like the Paws for Hope walk-a-thon, where dogs join the cause and sport the jersey number!
Paws for Hope
The concept behind the Paws for Hope walk-a-thon is simple, but it’s also fun and original: dogs and masters will walk several kilometers in exchange for donations on behalf of the Canadian Cancer Society.
The event will be preceded or followed by a picnic with on-site activities, such as information booths on good canine health, training and grooming. The Canadian Cancer Society will also take advantage of this warm family event to inform the population on its services.

How can I participate?
Dogs and masters can participate in the Paws for Hope event by filling out the registration form (also available in all Mondou stores and several other pet shops, as well as in many participating veterinary clinics and training schools across Quebec). The form needs to be turned in at the walk-a-thon site.

Dog owners will need to seek donations in advance. The minimum amount required to participate in the event is $25, which entitles your dog to receive an official scarf. Participants who raise more than $75 will receive a surprise gift for their dogs offered by Mondou. If you raise more than $150, you will receive an official scarf and also be eligible for the draw of a $100 gift card offered by Mondou. This price is not transferable and not exchangeable.
Where does the money go?
The money raised during the Canadian Cancer Society’s Paws for Hope walk-a-thon will be used to finance research projects, offer support and services to people touched by cancer, disseminate up-to-date information on cancer, help prevent this disease by promoting healthy lifestyles and advocate for public policy.
A bit of history...
The first Paws for Hope walk-a-thon took place in 1993 thanks to a great initiative by a Canadian Cancer Society employee in our Quebec City unit. Ms. Nichole Laderoute, who had been diagnosed with cancer, wanted to create a fundraising event that would be fun for the whole family and feature her loyal friend: her dog.
A sincere thank you to our sponsors
The Canadian Cancer Society’s Paws for Hope walk-a-thon is a fundraising activity sponsored on a provincial scale by Mondou and sortiedechien.com.
