Manitoba cancer statistics: 2012

This year in Manitoba an estimated 6,100 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed and 2,850 cancer deaths are expected for this year.

Breast cancer:
It is estimated that 800 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed this year and an estimated 210 women will die of the disease.

Prostate cancer:
An estimated 750 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer this year. It is estimated that 180 men will die of prostate cancer.

Lung cancer:
Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer related deaths in both men and women in Manitoba.

It is estimated that 830 new cases of lung cancer will be diagnosed in Manitoba alone and that 690 people will die of lung cancer this year.

Colorectal cancer:
Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer diagnosed in both men and women.

In Manitoba, an estimated 870 people will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer this year. An estimated 330 people will die of the disease.
