Relay For Life – Leadership Committee members, Edmonton and surrounding areas
The Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life is a celebration of survival, a tribute to the lives of loved ones and a night of fun, friendship and fundraising to beat cancer. The Relay for Life Leadership Committee is responsible for overall planning and implementation of the Society’s signature event. hide job description

Purpose: |
We need volunteers who are interested in supporting all aspects of Relay, including promoting the event to help increase team recruitment. |
When: |
Leadership volunteers are expected to participate actively in all committee meetings and provide comprehensive, concise reports to all committee members. Committee meetings are generally held once a month. Volunteers must also be available day of the event. |

Daffodil Campaign 2012
For over 50 years, the daffodil has been synonymous with the activities of the Canadian Cancer Society and the support it brings to people facing cancer. Throughout Daffodil Days and Daffodil Month, the Canadian Cancer Society is spreading our symbol of hope selling both daffodil flowers and pins to help raise money to support the fight against cancer.

Purpose: |
Assist in the sale and delivery of Daffodil flowers and pins throughout the month long campaign. Volunteer shifts are between 2-6 hours, depending on availability. |

Major Gifts Cabinet
When: Ongoing
Where: Volunteers required from all areas of Alberta and the Northwest Territories
Requirements: The Canadian Cancer Society is currently recruiting senior leadership volunteers to sit on the Major Gifts Cabinet. The Society would like to have 12 representatives from different communities and economic sectors throughout the Alberta/NWT Division. As a Major Gifts Cabinet member you would be asked to take leadership in identifying, cultivating and soliciting prospective donors, as well as recruiting senior leadership volunteers who will assist with prospect entrees and solicitations. CancerConnection – Peer support volunteers
CancerConnection is a telephone peer support program that matches cancer patients and caregivers with survivors and others who have had similar cancer journeys. Volunteers are required on an ongoing basis to provide emotional support to newly diagnosed cancer patients.

- There is a two-stage interview process that all applicants must go through

Help the Society to improve access to cancer related appointments for cancer patients who need assistance.

As a volunteer driver you will pick patients up from their home and take them to the Cross Cancer Institute. You will be there to offer friendly support and kindness at a time when they most need it, and when their treatment is done, you will make sure they get home. |
