Edmonton and area volunteer opportunities

Get involved! Volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society and make a difference.

The ability to help is one of the most rewarding experiences in life. And one of the most effective ways of helping people fight cancer is by volunteering your time and talents. By choosing to join forces with us in this struggle, you can make a significant difference in your community.

Whether you prefer to participate in special events, write to your politicians in support of helpful legislation, drive a patient to an appointment or share your experience with others who are living with cancer, your efforts will have make cancer history.

We can't do it without you! Together, we are making progress.

There are two ways you can submit a volunteer application form:

1. Complete and submit our online application form.

2. Print our volunteer application form and complete it. You can mail or fax your application to the Canadian Cancer Society at the following address:

Your volunteer application will be reviewed and you will be contacted shortly to discuss your application and potential opportunities. Please note that if you are under 18 years of age, you must obtain parental consent.

Relay For Life – Leadership Committee members, Edmonton and surrounding areas

The Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life is a celebration of survival, a tribute to the lives of loved ones and a night of fun, friendship and fundraising to beat cancer. The Relay for Life Leadership Committee is responsible for overall planning and implementation of the Society’s signature event.

Daffodil Campaign 2012

For over 50 years, the daffodil has been synonymous with the activities of the Canadian Cancer Society and the support it brings to people facing cancer. Throughout Daffodil Days and Daffodil Month, the Canadian Cancer Society is spreading our symbol of hope selling both daffodil flowers and pins to help raise money to support the fight against cancer.

Major Gifts Cabinet

When: Ongoing

Where: Volunteers required from all areas of Alberta and the Northwest Territories

Requirements: The Canadian Cancer Society is currently recruiting senior leadership volunteers to sit on the Major Gifts Cabinet. The Society would like to have 12 representatives from different communities and economic sectors throughout the Alberta/NWT Division. As a Major Gifts Cabinet member you would be asked to take leadership in identifying, cultivating and soliciting prospective donors, as well as recruiting senior leadership volunteers who will assist with prospect entrees and solicitations. How you can help support others with cancer:


Community program volunteers

CancerConnection – Peer support volunteers
CancerConnection is a telephone peer support program that matches cancer patients and caregivers with survivors and others who have had similar cancer journeys. Volunteers are required on an ongoing basis to provide emotional support to newly diagnosed cancer patients.

Help spread Canadian Cancer Society messages and build our profile in your community.

Community action champions
Help educate the public about cancer. We need help to move forward public policies that affect those living with cancer as well as prevent future cancer cases.
